FITNESS PRO REVEALS HOW TO COMBINE EXERCISES FOR BEST RESULTS
Scarsdale, NY -
As with inter-personal relationships, some exercises combine better with others. So says fitness expert, Brad Schoenfeld in this months issue of Men's Workout magazine. "People tend to think that all exercises are alike and simply string together a few exercises for a given muscle group," says Schoenfeld. "What they end up with is a disjointed routine that doesn't effectively work the muscles."
Schoenfeld recommends choosing exercises that are fundamentally different from one another. "Muscles are made up of thousands and thousands of thread-like fibers. By training a muscle from different angles you fully stimulate all the fibers in a muscle, thereby optimizing results."
Schoenfeld dispels the notion that muscles can be isolated. That said, he claims you can selectively "target-tone." "By using various body sculpting techniques, it is possible to focus more on one portion of a muscle as opposed to another. For example, by performing an incline press you will target the upper portion of the pecs while performing a flat press hones in more on the middle aspect."
