EAT FAT, GET LEAN
Scarsdale, NY -
Can eating fat make you lean? "Quite possibly yes," says fitness expert, Brad Schoenfeld. "Provided you eat the right type of fats." In the current issue of Let's Live Magazine, Schoenfeld discusses the benefits of supplementing with medium chain triglycerides, familiarly known as MCT oil.
"MCTs are a unique type of fat," Schoenfeld says. "They have a different molecular structure from longer chain fats that allow them to be preferentially be utilized for short-term energy rather than being deposited into fat cells. There are numerous studies showing their benefits as a fat loss aid."
The key, Schoenfeld points out, is that MCTs must be substituted for other calories in the diet. "MCTs contain approximately eight calories per gram. It's essential that you reduce a comparable amount of calories in your diet to see changes in body composition. Ultimately, calories do count. It's a fundamental aspect of the first law of thermodynamics."
