Kick Butt Workout

Is your butt in a rut? If so, fitness expert Brad Schoenfeld has the perfect remedy. In the current issue of Shape magazine, Schoenfeld details a three-part plan guaranteed to produce a shapely backside. "You can make your butt harder or rounder," he professes. "Within your genetic framework, there is virtually no limit to what you can achieve."
Schoenfeld advises to choose exercises that work the glutes from different angles and in multiple planes of movement. "The gluteus maximus can be worked by hip extension, either with the feet fixed or not fixed," he states. "The smaller glute muscles are targeted by a movement called abduction, where the leg is moved out to the side of the body. A combination of these moves are necessary for optimal results."
It's essential to mix up the exercises you perform. "Variety keeps things interesting and keeps your muscles off-guard," says Schoenfeld, "This ultimately translates into better results."
