If you're looking for a multi-function home gym, you can't do any better than the Inspire M4. It has all the elements of the best commercial equipment found in high-end gyms all rolled up into a single, compact unit.
No doubt, this is a solid unit. It's made of heavy-duty 11 gauge tubular steel with a maintenance-free, powder-coated finish that is sure to keep it looking good over time. There is no sway in the frame when you push on it -- a good test to how sturdy it is. The weight stack allows for 215 pounds of resistance-enough for almost any serious lifter.
The main station has an orthopedically designed seat that is extremely functional and comfortable. The seat is fully adjustable, affording you the ability to perform dozens of different exercises. Better yet, the adjustments are simple to maneuver: you can go from upright position to flat in a matter of moments. What I really like about this feature is its ergonomics. Unlike other units, you can tweak the positioning to get just the right angle on a multitude of movements regardless of your body type. The seat even moves to the side allowing you perform a variety of standing exercises including squats, cable crossovers and more.
Another excellent feature of the M4 is the iso-lateral design. This forces both sides of your body to work equally to complete a movement, helping to ensure balanced development of all muscles.
I was extremely impressed with the smoothness of the unit. Every exercise I performed felt natural throughout the entire range of motion. There were no hitches or "jerky" spots found on many competitive products. The "feel" was as good as any health club machine I've used and that's saying a lot.
The M4 comes with a full complement of accessories including strap handles, ankle attachments and various bars. An optional leg press unit is available that allows you to perform leg presses and calf raises.
In sum, the Inspire M4 is one of the best multi-gym options on the market. If you're looking for a total training option for your home gym, look no further.
